Pants are a piece of clothing that covers the lower half of the body from the waist to the ankles while covering each leg separately.  Pants are sometimes referred to as trousers, slacks, strides, kex or breeches.  When pants first came around they were typically worn by men but over time they have been acceptable for both sexes to wear them.  Proper fit for your pants are important since you don’t want them to be too long so that there is a risk or tripping, too short so your ankles are exposed or too large in the waist so that they might fall down.  You will also want to consider the material the pants are made out of.  Some are water resistant, some are better for winter cold, some are treated with a protective coating so that they are not flammable or cannot be corroded.  You may need a few pairs of pants depending on what activities you will be doing in them.
