Boots need to be fastened and most of them fasten with laces.  As most of us know the part of the boot that generally wears out the fastest are the laces.  If you pull too tight on a worn lace, they can snap.  Since we all need to keep our boots fastened properly on our feet it is always handy to have a spare pair of boot laces.  Laces come in a variety of materials, styles, lengths and thicknesses.  You will want to ensure that you are selecting a lace that is long enough to be thread and fastened to your boot.  You also want to pick a lace that is made out of a durable material so that they wear less quickly.  The thickness of the lace is also important because you need to ensure that it is thin enough to fit through the eyelets on the boot but not be too thin so that it snaps if too much pressure is applied.  It is always handy to have at least one pair of shoe laces with you in case one snaps while on the job.
